TRAINING & WORKSHOPS

Daily Extensive (and intensive) on-going autodidactic actor training is central to the nervousystem endeavor. We operate within a laboratory environment continually developing the actor’s craft and investigating the fundaments of theatre so as to allow us to continue developing and exposing innovative work of the highest quality. Over time we have evolved an ever growing series of objective psycho physical and vocal exercises and techniques which are now at our disposal.

nervousystem places a strong emphasis on investigation in its practice and therefore does not ‘teach’ or offer any dictums for creativity in the form of skills or prescriptive methods, but rather creates a concentrated environment of exchange through the implementation of clear and often difficult exercises or tasks. Here participants take responsibility for their own development, allowing the seed of creativity to grow through their encounter with these new challenges.

As part of our practical and pedagogical research and development the ensemble regularly creates 'windows' on training and composition in the form of worksessions facilitating exchange with other theatre professionals and practitioners within diverse fields of performance.
